In the Bluff – Galiano's Oceanside Retreat is located six kilometres from the Sturdies Bay ferry dock. There are two routes (by road) depending on whether you would like to sightsee or pick up provisions while on-route.
1) The most direct (and fully paved) route is the 'upper loop' via Sturdies Bay Road, Georgeson Bay Road and Active Pass Drive. After disembarking the ferry, continue along Sturdies Bay Road past the 'downtown' shops and cafes, not to mention Galiano's only gas station (with convenience store and liquor corner); in just under three kilometres you will approach 'uptown' with Galiano Trading (Home Hardware), the South End Hall and Hummingbird Pub on your right-hand side.
Veer left (with the main traffic flow) onto Georgeson Bay Road, where you will see the Corner Store (also with a liquor corner) to the left and Daystar Market & Cafe on the right. Continue along Georgeson Bay Road past the South Island Fire Hall and in about one kilometre you will 'go straight' whereas the main traffic flow curves to the right and up onto Montague Road. Take caution here as by continuing straight on Georgeson Bay Road, you are crossing on-coming traffic.
This scenic section of Georgeson Bay Road is less busy and you will pass farm fields and a maple tree in the middle of the road. In about two kilometres, the road will make a right turn and become Active Pass Drive. Just over the hill you will see our little vineyard on your left. Take the driveway just before the vineyard marked "257" on the flower box.

2) A particularly scenic route to In the Bluff is via the 'lower loop' and through the beautifully treed Bluffs Park. After disembarking the ferry, continue along Sturdies Bay Road past the 'downtown' shops and in about ½ kilometre make a left turn onto Burrill Road.
Burrill Road will wind past St. Margaret's Church, Galiano's Health Centre, the Lions Hall and Skateboard Park, before making a sharp right turn and becoming Bluff Road. This quiet local road will turn to gravel and wind up as you enter Bluffs Park. Watch for the marked driveway to the left that will take you to a spectacular viewpoint over Active Pass and well beyond. Stroll to the right and up along the ridge; beyond the log shelter you will be able to look down into Georgeson Bay – the blue house with a green roof perched high on the bluff is where you will be staying!
Continue along Bluff Road, which will wind down after the lookout and end at Georgeson Bay Road, where you will turn left. In about ½ kilometre, you will make a sharp right onto Active Pass Drive and just over the hill you will see our little vineyard on your left. Take the driveway just before the vineyard marked "257" on the flower box.
